God and Danna Story
I grew up in Las Vegas. I was not a Christian and was unfamiliar with God and Christian ways. A good friend of mine, Danna, would invite me to her home often. Her parents, Betty and Ron Lee, were so loving and encouraging to me. I have fond memories of cooking together with Danna and her parents! I yearned for the peace and joy they experienced, yet during altar calls, even when all heads were bowed, I could not bring myself to raise my hand. They taught me many things by example and by instruction, such as, not to use the Lord's name in vain. Danna was patient and kind, a best friend anyone could have.
As a teenager, I moved up here to Washington with my parents, and lost touch with Danna for 13 years. I became a Christian, but continued to stumble and struggle. God again blessed me with a close friendship, this time it was with my mom; we shared everything in our lives. It was difficult for me when my mom was diagnosed with cancer. However, she remained strong and continued to shower all of her love and affection on me and my kids.
I worked at Denny's and was unexpectedly switch to the night shift. At the same time, my mom's health took a turn for the worse, and she went home to be with the Lord. I met Yvette Hyatt while working the night shift. God knew the depths of my grief, and He provided a true and loyal friend in Yvette. She shared in my sufferings and lifted me up. He continued to meet me in my sorrow, and provided great comfort through His Word and His children, as there were other Christians who worked on the night shift. Study and fellowship on Wednesday nights.
"A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need."
Proverbs 17:17 (NLT)
My father-in-law began to fully supply me with biblical materials and information. I was like a dry sponge and soaked up every word. As I began to attend church, I thought of contacting Danna, but couldn't find her phone number.
Soon, the Lord, in His goodness, blessed Josh and me with twins. However, it was a high risk pregnancy, and I had to be on bed rest. As I lay on my bed, for many weeks, I thought of contacting Danna again. I called Directory Assistance for her parents' phone number. Betty answered the phone; she couldn't believe it was me, and she cried! She said they had been trying to sell their house but couldn't, and just re-listed their phone number a week earlier. She also told me that they had been praying for me regularly all these years. She was so thankful to God to hear how I was doing, and I was so thankful that He prompted my heart to call just at the right time! Danna and her kids came up to visit me here the following summer. I thank God for bringing Danna back into my life.
"You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate."
Luke 6:36 (NLT)
"God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in time of trouble."
Psalm 46:1 (NLT)
God has been so faithful to me through life's ups and downs. He has been my strength and my song. I will continue to put my faith and trust in Him.
Praise be to God!
