Divine Intervention Story

A New Beginning with God

Before I was a Christian, I was a struggling teen. This is my divine intervention story. I will share with you my new beginning with God. I lived with my grandparents in Las Vegas for about a year until my Dad moved there and then I moved in with him. I was in eighth grade and very active in school and at home. I was getting good grades and I did a lot of team things.

Then in the beginning of my Freshman year of high school, I started to struggle. I had friends that would go to parties, and thinking I would be 'cool', I tagged along and did really stupid stuff. Finally, after getting into many arguments with my Dad, I was kicked out. I then started to live with my grandparents, and I liked it. Then, unexpectedly, my grandfather, whom was endearingly called "Papa", began getting sick. He kept on getting worse day by day. Finally, my grandma made a decision that would soon change my life. She decided to move to Washington and try to get better doctors for my Papa. We moved here in the beginning of December and I moved in with the Calibo family.

The beginning first few weeks were tough to adjust to. The school was okay, but the kids were mean. I still didn't know the Lord very well. My Aunt Lona took me to Bible Study and I really enjoyed it. I started going to church and began learning about the Lord. In the beginning of February my Papa got worse, and on February 24th this year (2004), he passed away. I felt very sad and depressed, but then I would remember that my Papa said that he loved God so much, and he was happy to go home. That's when it hit me - God had brought me here to learn about Him and His Son.

I started finding my way to God my Lord by studying the Bible. I went to a rally in April; it was so powerful and incredible. I was listening to the speaker, but in my heart I knew it was God who was speaking divine to me. In the beginning of June, I decided to be baptized. I read my Bible more often, and had Bible study with my Aunt and cousin at night. On July 17th, I was baptized. It was by far, the most incredible divine thing I have done. I went to camp at a Lake Retreat this summer and had a blast there and learned a lot more about God. I am so thankful that the Lord brought me here, and I am so thankful for Island Baptist church and my family. Thank you and God bless!
