Divine Intervention StoryGod Keep Us SafeAbout eight years ago on a Sunday evening, my husband, Orville, our 14 year old granddaughter and I were driving home to Camano Island from Snohomish after visiting our daughter. I was driving slow to keep us Safe. We were going westbound on Highway 2 and it was dark out. There was a lot of traffic that night so both lanes were very busy and all the cars were traveling at the speed limit of 50 mph. I kept in the right lane as it would bring me to the on ramp to the freeway heading north. Towards the exit of Highway 2 the road curves to the right. All of a sudden I saw the blinking lights of a truck stalled in the right lane. I quickly checked the left lane wanting to pass the truck, but all the cars were coming so fast there didn't seem to be enough room to move over. I couldn't slow down in time without hitting the truck. It was a big, heavy truck and I was driving a little Volkswagen Rabbit. If I tried to go into the left lane I was sure to be hit by traffic that could result in a multi-car accident. Since I didn't know what to do I prayed aloud, "God, Please keep us safe!" After saying those words, we were somehow in the left lane, I couldn't believe it. I didn't have control at that point and I was expecting to hear a big crash with us in the middle. My granddaughter asked, "What happened?" My husband said, "Wow, I didn't think you would make it." I replied, "neither did I, in fact I didn't do it." I asked God to keep us safe and the car was in His control. All the way home, I kept trying to figure out how we got into the left lane so quickly. But, I thank God for taking care of us. I felt safe all the way home. In fact, every time I get into the car now I say a prayer to keep me and any passengers safe, and I say a few extra prayers during the drive too. Thank You God, keep us safe always. The light of God surrounds me; The love of God enfolds me; The power of God protects me; The presence of God watches over me. Wherever I am, God is. He is Great!
